We just got our plumbing fixed so that the outdoor taps (hydrants to the locals) work. Now we can water our garden (yard) and vegetable patch (garden) without having to run a hose from the kitchen tap (faucet).
Happy Campers
Submitted by Colin on 18 July 2009 - 7:57pm.Well we've been here two months now, and we're really feeling settled. There's still a few jobs around the house to do, but for the most part we've got everything sort out how we want it. We've ended up with loads of sleep space. We have bunk beds, a sofa bed (known as a hide-a-bed here) and a futon (not one of those folding wooden frame ones, a proper metal one) so plenty of space for everyone to come and stay.
A new member of our family!
Submitted by Mandi on 15 June 2009 - 8:11pm.Well, we're in Idaho now, and we're quickly becoming proper Rednecks :) We've even got a half inflated rubber boat in our garden - because we can :)
Not long now =O
Submitted by Colin on 9 April 2009 - 8:49am.Just over a month to go until we fly. We've sold a load of stuff and given some to charity. Everything we're taking was packed and sent a couple of weeks ago, it's currently in Sheffield waiting to go to a boat. A sale on our flat is in progress, which is exciting. She's hoping that will go through before the end of this month. Fingers crossed.
My last day at work is May the first, it's rushing up fast. We're looking forward to spending the last couple of weeks at my parents, hopefully relaxing (and closing our accounts).
Daisy's walking!
Submitted by Mandi on 24 February 2009 - 5:27am.Well, Daisy is walking now, and I have to say it has been my favourite milestone so far. She was so proud of herself when she first started, and you could see it every time she was off. I love watching her :) She's becoming more an dmore independent now, though, and thinks she doesn't need to hold our hands outside any more....hence she's had a few nose dives on the pavement. She's getting the hang of it, though, and yesterday she managed to walk all the way from the car to the flat through the gravel, and a long a very bumpy brick path without falling.
We're moving to Idaho!
Submitted by Mandi on 16 January 2009 - 6:15am.Colin got a green card last week, and we bought our flight tickets on Tuesday - we're moving!!!! After 14 years of me living in England, we've decided to go to beautiful Idaho and enjoy the four extreme seasons (snowboarding and wakeboarding for Colin!), and a much more relaxed lifestyle. We're renting our friend Bev's log home which isn't far from my family, and surrounded by lakes and mountains. We're very excited, if not a little scared!
